2008 GT Convertible Mustang

These days, car corporations, particularly their designers, seem to venture on more futuristic schemes with regards to the aesthetic side of the concept cars that they produce.

However, Beau Boeckmann appears to deviate from the rest. Instead of going way forward, he preferred to recede in the era where automotive twang in similarity but in utmost elegance. In other terms, he desires to explore in an era where the past becomes the future, the classic becomes the contemporary.

Then came 2008, a fulfillment of this dreams paved the long wait of the designer and Galpin Auto Sports (GAS) president Beau Boeckmann. This year, Scythe, a customized GT Convertible 2008 Ford Mustang came into existence. It is created with an edgy structure and sleek finish and is also considered by its brainchild as a Kustom Kar, not a custom car. This serves as an existing proof of an inspiration that can be traced back on the period of George Barris, designer of Bruce Wayne’s most famous vehicle.

As a car that is created to pass through roads of modern days, of course, GAS did not leave it deprived of this age’s technology as it also came with a hand-made composite body, voice control (a talking onboard computer), and, props to drive-by-wire technology, dual retractable steering wheels and a twin-supercharged 1,005 horsepower engine.

Nonetheless, the raising eye brows of others are still inevitable when faced with designs like this. But Boeckmann still intends to pursue on giving the past era of automotive a larger chance these days and in the future.

Ford Deuce Roadster

The word Deuce can denote three things if we are to look at it in the dictionary. Among these is the word devil. But to the auto industry, this can only be solely associated with Ford Deuce Roadster.

It has been dubbed as model 18 - "1" for first and "8" for v8 engine- since it has been the culmination of the hard-earned dream of its creators. It was believed to be the first v8 engine to come into existence at just a non-prohibitive $460. Though it was cheaply made, its performance was seen to be remarkable. Here are the proofs.

Engine Specifications:

Make: ‘47 Ford

Displacement: 239 ci

Machining / Assembly: Vintage V8 Restoration (Orange, CA)

Water pump: 59AB w/ motor mount tabs removed

Cooling fan: ‘46 Passenger

Radiator: ‘32 Ford V-8

Alternator: ‘47 Ford converted to 12V

Heads: Edelbrock (Torrance, CA)

Manifold / Induction: Edelbrock 2×2 Super / Stromberg 48s

Ignition: ‘47 Ford

Exhaust / Mufflers: 1 ¾” / 20″ glass packs

That seems to explain why, to date, car aficionados are paying thousands and even hundred of thousands to have it displayed in their gallery or to even own it. Well, add the fact that the two modifications of the design, 1996 and 2000 of this model had already won America’s Most Beautiful Roadster award.

To date, hot rodders still hank after this model and consider this as a prime catch. It can also be considered as the Janus of hot rod cars since it bridges the past and the future of hot rodding. Well, that is still because of the remarkable engine that it holds.
