Ford Deuce Roadster

The word Deuce can denote three things if we are to look at it in the dictionary. Among these is the word devil. But to the auto industry, this can only be solely associated with Ford Deuce Roadster.

It has been dubbed as model 18 - "1" for first and "8" for v8 engine- since it has been the culmination of the hard-earned dream of its creators. It was believed to be the first v8 engine to come into existence at just a non-prohibitive $460. Though it was cheaply made, its performance was seen to be remarkable. Here are the proofs.

Engine Specifications:

Make: ‘47 Ford

Displacement: 239 ci

Machining / Assembly: Vintage V8 Restoration (Orange, CA)

Water pump: 59AB w/ motor mount tabs removed

Cooling fan: ‘46 Passenger

Radiator: ‘32 Ford V-8

Alternator: ‘47 Ford converted to 12V

Heads: Edelbrock (Torrance, CA)

Manifold / Induction: Edelbrock 2×2 Super / Stromberg 48s

Ignition: ‘47 Ford

Exhaust / Mufflers: 1 ¾” / 20″ glass packs

That seems to explain why, to date, car aficionados are paying thousands and even hundred of thousands to have it displayed in their gallery or to even own it. Well, add the fact that the two modifications of the design, 1996 and 2000 of this model had already won America’s Most Beautiful Roadster award.

To date, hot rodders still hank after this model and consider this as a prime catch. It can also be considered as the Janus of hot rod cars since it bridges the past and the future of hot rodding. Well, that is still because of the remarkable engine that it holds.
